After Thanksgiving
A thin layer of ice rapidly forming on the pond at my farm in Southern Illinois.
Thanksgiving was full of sunshine and great fall weather in Texas! The day was super relaxing and I’m definitely thankful for everything in my life. Like many Americans I enjoyed some fantastic food and watched the National Dog Show. Since I’ve been showing my Long Coat Chihuahua for several years I have more appreciation for the work and dedication that goes into getting a dog to this level. Perhaps one day I’ll be fortunate enough to make it to this show, but for now I’m content being an Owner Handler of one, 5.5 pound adventure dog.
Often with the shift from November into December the weather and scenery can change drastically. It’s such a busy time of the year for so many of us, but it can be rewarding to slow down and enjoy the small things. The image above is one in a series where I was able to document a thin layer of ice that grew across the surface of the pond over the span of several days. The weather changed quickly from mild to below freezing making the formation of ice rather different from years past. Golden hour into twilight is when I can generally be found with a camera and this image was taken at 5:46pm with pink clouds overhead, and a decent wind generating the ripples on the water. Hopefully you can enjoy a wonderful sunset this week!
